FRESH AND FROZEN RACLETTE CHEESE SLICES

A Raclette story…

 Everything started in the Middle-Ages, with shepherds, a half loaf of cheese and a wood fire. Back then, people used to enjoy raclette outdoors, during the summer season. They just had to let the cheese melt on slices of bread.

Later, the word « raclette » appeared, coming from the fact that the melted cheese was scraped with a knife to be poured over potatoes.

In the mid 20th century, the rustic wood fire was replaced by the first electric appliances.

 

3 good reasons to prepare a good Raclette

 

  • It is a complete family dish, practical and easy to prepare.
  • Each guest may season and choose whatever he or she pleases among all the side dishes, eat little or a lot, enjoy a more or less melted cheese, with or without the rind, choosing among pickles, French « rosette », cured or cooked ham…
  • Apart from the potatoes which need to be previously cooked in boiling water, the raclette does not need any preparation. You only have to preheat your appliance for 10 to 15 min before you start eating.

 

The raclette allows each guest to take the time to savor and enjoy extra helpings whenever he or she wishes. It is usually a dish which keeps people together for a long, festive and charming dinner.
