Polenta’s Croque-Monsieur

RECIPE : Polenta’s Croque-Monsieur

INGREDIENTS :

  • 3 cups of milk
  • 1 1/2 cups of cream
  • 0.33lb polenta semolina
  • 4 thick slices of cooked ham
  • 7oz of sliced Raclette Le Palais des Saveurs
  • Salt, pepper, nutmeg

Cut the ham in squares of 4 inches, set it aside
Bring to boil the milk and season it. Sprinkle in the cornmeal, whisking constantly. Lower the heat and let cook, by moving often, during 20 minutes approximately. Taste to verify the cooking, the semolina must be tender. When the cooking is good, you have to spread quickly the polenta over a thickness about one centimeter then let cool in the refrigerator during 10 minutes.
The polenta has to become firm. Then, you can cut it in squares of 4 inches long. Now, you just have to stack the different layers : a polenta square, a ham square and then cover the whole of Raclette. You will realize this operation twice and add on the top some Raclette slices.
Put this in an oven at 390°F, in grill mode, during 15 minutes but watch out, it could burn. Serve hot, with a mixed salad for example.
